What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy?

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy? Solar energy is derived from the sun’s radiation. The sun is a powerful energy source, and this energy source can be harnessed by installing solar panels. Did you know that the energy it provides to the Earth for one hour could meet the global energy needs for one year? However, we are able to harness only 0.001 percent of that energy. There is a reason why solar energy has become a trending topic when talking about renewableS. While it has been widely criticized for being expensive or not very efficient, solar energy has now proved to be extremely beneficial – not only for the environment but also financially speaking. Thanks to various solar panel grants as well as the ever-increasing higher demand, the technology has been improved considerably and has been complemented by solar battery storage systems, turning into a significantly more efficient source of clean energy.   Disadvantages of Solar Energy 1. Cost The initial cost of purchasing a solar system is fairly high. This includes paying for solar panels, inverter, batteries, wiring, and for the installation. Nevertheless, solar technologies are constantly developing, so it is safe to assume that prices will go down in the future. 2. Weather Dependent Although solar energy can still be collected during cloudy and rainy days, the efficiency of the solar system drops. Solar panels are dependent on sunlight to effectively gather solar energy. Therefore, a few cloudy, rainy days can have a noticeable effect on the energy system. You should also take into account that solar energy cannot be collected during the night. On the other hand, if you also require your water heating solution to work at night or during wintertime, thermodynamic panels are an alternative to consider. 3. Solar Energy Storage Is Expensive Solar energy has to be used right away, or it can be stored in large batteries. These batteries, used in off-the-grid solar systems, can be charged during the day so that the energy is used at night. This is a good solution for using solar energy all day long but it is also quite expensive. In most cases, it is smarter to just use solar energy during the day and take energy from the grid during the night (you can only do this if your system is connected to the grid). Luckily your energy demand is usually higher during the day so you can meet most of it with solar energy. 4. Uses a Lot of Space The more electricity you want to produce, the more solar panels you will need, as you want to collect as much sunlight as possible. Solar PV panels require a lot of space and some roofs are not big enough to fit the number of solar panels that you would like to have. An alternative is to install some of the panels in your yard but they need to have access to sunlight. If you don’t have the space for all the panels that you wanted, you can opt for installing fewer to still satisfy some of your energy needs. 5. Associated with Pollution Although pollution related to solar energy systems is far less compared to other sources of energy, solar energy can be associated with pollution. Transportation and installation of solar systems have been associated with the emission of greenhouse gases. There are also some toxic materials and hazardous products used during the manufacturing process of solar photovoltaic systems, which can indirectly affect the environment. Nevertheless, solar energy pollutes far less than other alternative energy sources. Are You Ready to go Solar? Has this sparked your interest towards solar energy? BENEFITS OF THE SUN TO HUMANS

Solar energy is the power produced by sunshine that is converted to electricity to run your home’s electronic gadgets. According to Wikipedia, solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the Sun that is captured using a variety of technologies, including solar power to produce electricity, solar thermal energy, and solar architecture. Nothing is more important to us on Earth than the Sun. Without the Sun which brings  us heat and light, the Earth would be a lifeless ball of ice-coated rock. The Sun warms our seas, stirs our atmosphere, generates our weather patterns, and gives energy to the growing green plants that provide the food and oxygen for life on Earth.   Sun help the environment and help us all. Solar power systems derive clean, pure energy from the sun. Installing  on your home helps combat greenhouse gas emissions and reduces our collective dependence on fossil fuel. … Coal and natural gas plants produce air and water pollution that is harmful to human health. However saving money through reducing the price on your electricity bill by cutting down the amount of energy you use is no fluke. Solar Panels give you the ability to save money by creating a natural source of energy that has the ability to power your home through the sun. Dangers of using Portable Generator in Nigeria

While portable generators are useful when temporary or remote electric power is needed, generators also can be extremely hazardous and even life-threatening. The primary hazards when using a generator are carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning from the toxic engine exhaust, electric shock or electrocution, and fire. Most of the deaths and injuries associated with portable generators are from CO poisoning from generators used indoors or in partially enclosed spaces. Carbon Monoxide Hazards Generators can produce high levels of CO very quickly. You cannot smell or see CO so even if you do not smell exhaust fumes, you may be exposed. If you start to feel sick, dizzy, or weak while using a generator, get to fresh air immediately. The CO from generators can rapidly lead to full incapacitation and death. Here at  solarity It is safe to say that solar system is considerably more health friendly . Solar Power does not produce any fumes and can improve your health outcomes and environment. Generators which are major source of environmental pollution have the opposite effect – emitting carbon monoxide that can lead to headaches, dizziness and even more serious illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. Energy and sustainable development in Nigeria: the way forward

Power is one of the major problem small, medium and large corporations face in Nigeria. It is a major constraint on ease of doing business in Nigeria with about $12 billion spent annually by businesses and individuals on generators. According to a global policy and advisory firm in June 2019, households owned about 22 million small petrol generators, as a research by NOI Polls and referenced by Bloomberg disclosed that an average power supply of only 9.2 hours a day was provided to households as of first half of 2019. The yearly cost of powering these generators, which is estimated at $12 billion, is said to be twice the country’s annual infrastructure budget. The lack of access to electricity and unreliable power supply causes an annual economic loss of about $29 billion, according to the International Monetary Fund. This means that the more dependent Nigerian households and businesses are on generators, the more holes it drills into the pocket of businesses, households and the economy. The best solution for Nigeria is a hybrid system where you integrate your solar panel with your generator set and reduce your diesel consumption by 50%.
